Atherosclerosis Risk Factors: Systematic Review with ☸️SAIMSARA
The aim of this paper is to systematically review and synthesize the current evidence on atherosclerosis risk factors, encompassing traditional cardiovascular risk factors, inflammatory and metabolic pathways, genetic predispositions, environmental influences, and associated comorbidities, to identify key themes and research gaps. The review utilises 14940 studies with 32682984 total participants (naïve ΣN). In a large prospective population study, traditional risk factors for atherosclerosis demonstrated consistent impact across different arterial territories, with elevated LDL-C associated with an aHR of 1.35 (95% CI, 1.24-1.46), high SBP with an aHR of 1.29 (95% CI, 1.22-1.37), and smoking with an aHR of 1.69 (95% CI, 1.56-1.82) for incident cardiovascular events...
